Pillow Ministry ~ A Co-ed Ministry of CBC

Almost every Tuesday morning of the year, volunteers can be found performing a labor of love as they turn out pillows assembly-line fashion in the Pillow Ministry of Calvary Baptist Church. One might be surprised to see that the group consists of not only women, but also men that spend the time busily cutting, sewing, turning, stuffing, labeling, inspecting, and packaging the final product for delivery.

Since its inception in September of 2004, this ministry has constructed well over 10,000 pillows that are delivered to local hospitals to be given to patients. An estimated forty to fifty are completed each week, and the blessings both to the workers and the patients are numerous. Recipients of these soft, blue fleece pillows of comfort are patients of: the Joe Arrington Cancer Center, Lakeside Covenant Obstetrics and Surgery Floors, Hospice of Lubbock, the Heart Hospital, and the Ronald McDonald House. Patients recovering from surgery use them as a cough pillow to mitigate the pain while muscles heal, others simply find comfort in knowing someone cares and the blessings of fellowship and accomplishment to the volunteers are invaluable.
